• Promotion effects on eye health
• Lutein and zeaxanthin are mainly accumulated in the macula of the retina, where they bind to the retinal protein tuberlin.
• They serve as accessory light gathering pigments and protect the toxic effects of ultra-violet radiation and oxygen. These two carotenoids filter out harmful blue light and quench free radicals that can damage the macula, the part of the eye responsible for sharp and detailed vision.
• With advancing age, concentrations of these precious carotenoids decline, leaving the eyes suspectible to age related disorders.They are thought to play a role in protecting against serious eye problems such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and age-related cataract formation.
